Social Services
Helping Hands works with government agencies and tribal leaders to provide basic social services to the poor. Hundreds of people living in villages have not been registered as citizens of the country they were born in and have lived in all their lives. It is important that these people are counted into the population census. It is also vital that all babies born in the village be registered. Other basic necessities such as running water and electricity are available through government channels, yet many villages do no have access to these amenities. Helping Hands assists the villagers in these areas.

Count me in
Due to the high level of illiteracy, hundreds of people in the villages we service do not have basic documents such as birth certificates and identity documents. Through this project the staff of Helping Hands helps these people to obtain the necessary documents to receive pensions, government grants and to open bank accounts. This then allows them to interact more successfully with the social/economic environment which surrounds them and their villages.

Basics of Life
Most people take running water and electricity for granted. The villages we service are entitled to these amenities but they often do not know how to make application for and obtain these amenities for themselves. Our community workers establish community committees who represent their cases before the tribal and municipal authorities, thereby securing these basic services for their villages.

Mission statement
Helping Hands is dedicated to restoring hope for the future in disadvantaged communities by providing opportunities for individuals in the community to develop skills that will equip them to take responsibility for their own economic, health, educational, social and spiritual upliftment.
